The Nigerian embassy charge d’affaires Mohammed Sani has called for calm among his countrymen after the death of Tony Onuoha sparked a series of demonstrations in Thessaloniki. Tony Onuoha, a 25 year old Nigerian who was legally in Greece died on Saturday after falling off a first floor café balcony in the city of Thessaloniki, following a chase by two men.
He had been selling boot leg CDS and DVDS, in the cafes and restaurants of the seaside kalamaria suburb.
Eyewitness reports say he was pushed. Investigation is underway to locate the two men involved in the incident. The Police have denied any involvement saying no officers were on duty looking for forged CDS at the time of Onouha’s death. The African community thinks otherwise. Were they record company thugs? Were they plain clothes municipal police men or actual Plain clothes police men or none of the above.
Mr sani says all Nigerians want peace and is happy with the chief of police on the investigation.
