REBELS DENY TAKING OIL CASH
Jul 24th, 2008 by admin
Rebels from the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta deny taking millions of dollars from Nigeria’s national oil company. The allegation was made after Abubakar Yar’Adua, the head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, told a national assembly committee that rebels had asked for a six million dollar monthly fee to refrain from attacks. He later claimed he had been misunderstood and said no money had changed hands. The rebels have vowed to destroy the Chanomic Creek pipeline and other major pipelines within the next 30 days to prove they are not part of a deal.
