GADDAFI PUSHES FOR AFRICAN UNITY
Feb 3rd, 2009 by admin
The African Union‘s newly elected chairman, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, says he will continue to push for a United States of Africa. He made the pledge during his inaugural speech, but also admitted that African leaders were not united on the issue. Gaddafi was elected as the new chairman at an AU summit in Ethiopia yesterday. More than 40 African leaders met for three days to discuss infrastructure development in Africa. They also discussed the formation of a Union Government of Africa, which would act as a federal government. It would unite African countries and encourage them to share their wealth in a way that will benefit its citizens. At least 20 countries support the proposal but others remain reluctant.
