WHITE SOUTH AFRICAN GRANTED REFUGEE STATUS IN CANADA

A white South African male, Brandon Huntley, 31, has been granted refugee status in Canada because of alleged violent persecution he faced from black South Africans. Huntley claimed he was persecuted as a white man in South Africa, that he had been the victim of seven attempted robberies and that he had been called a ‘white dog’ and a ‘settler’. He further told the refugee board he had been nabbed three times during the attacks but had not reported the crimes to the police because he did not trust them.
According to The refugee Board Chairman William Davies’s findings that Huntleys fears of persecution by black South Africans was justified. Mean while John H Simms QC has asked the Federal Court in Canada a chance to argue that the decision should be quashed and sent back for rehearing, Simms stated that ‘The tribunal that granted Huntley refugee status based its decision on an erroneous finding of fact that it made …without regard to the material before it. He also criticized Davies’s tribunal for acting ‘without jurisdiction and beyond its jurisdiction.which could be challenged on four grounds
