Post election violence in Nigeria.

As election results are been counted there is serious fighting going on in the North. A confirmation of what most Nigerians had said at the beginning of the elections, “a contest between muslims and christians”. The fighting erupted today in northern parts of Nigeria as votes were been counted. It shows Jonathan in a clear lead. A fact that may not go down well with supporters of Buhari, as the muslim north voted for Buhari. Witnesses reported that youths in Kano were setting fire to homes that bore Jonathan party banners. Hundreds of youths are in the streets shouting “Only Buhari” in the local Hausa language.
In Kaduna, the home of the nation’s vice president, the streets are completely deserted as angry young men have engaged in burning tires and throwing stones at police. Sounds of gunshots is everywhere. The police have described the situation as an uprising. Voting in the Saturday presidential election was largely peaceful apart from some who resotted to thuggery and violence. The situation today is a clear indication that the Muslim in the north do not want Jonathan. Besides most Nigerians voted based on religious and ethnic sentiments.

May the good LORD save us from more violence and bloodshed in Nigeria
