“Rwanda through my eyes”
Jul 13th, 2017 by admin
My working visit to East Africa, Rwanda was enlightening. A beautiful country with several hills which led to its nickname ‘land of a thousand hills’. It is now a travel destination for many.
Today, the name Rwanda is a reminder of a war, the genocide which killed several people. prior, to my visit, it was simply a country in East Africa.
However, a visit to Rwanda, leaves one gaping as words alone cannot describe the beauty in this country.
i decided i was going to visit again, giving myself ample time to see the serene beauty this African country offered. Though I had looked forward to visiting the numerous tourist sites. i was content i got a chance to see the country through its cultural display. A glimpse of the Rwandan culture through its dance which was not only intriguing but engaging.
It is The ‘Dance of Heroes’ performed by men wearing grass wigs and carrying spears. The background is a dance performed by returning warriors, celebrating victory in battle. The dancers move from side to side with so much charisma and dignity.
