MSF WITHDRAWS STAFF FROM DARFUR

The governor of Sudan’s North Darfur region is reported to be negotiating with kidnappers who abducted three aid workers from medical charity, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). The workers were abducted at gunpoint in Saraf Umra, North Darfur on Wednesday. Their abduction follows the expulsion of 13 charities from the region last week. President Omar al-Bashir ordered their expulsion after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. However the Sudanese government has condemned the abduction. The charity says it is now withdrawing its medical teams from Darfur, and will leave only a skeletal team to follow the progress of those abducted.
