Boko haramism, a word originating from Boko Haram, It means “books (boko) and “against” (haram). It is an Islamic sect demanding for a theocratic state in Nigeria. Boko Haram says if the education we acquire from the West means stealing, mismanaging, embezzling, then we (Boko Haram) do not want that kind of education.
Any right-thinking person would agree with the climate of governance present in Nigeria. So what is Boko Haram all about? First, they are an invincible group with faceless members. They are not really about religion at all. They are making war against society that has failed them and waging war against the government by carrying out incessant attacks on innocent victims thereby attracting attention as enemies of Nigeria. Many say, Boko Haram has gone beyond Nigeria with links to Al-Qaeda. They carry out their activities without sending out threats or warnings. Mr. Edun Lucky had lived in Kaduna for about twenty years and, it was home to him, though from the Eastern part of Nigeria. On a particular day, on his way to work, his car was seized and fuel poured on him with the intent to burn him, he escaped. His family was not so lucky, they were burnt alive and his three children and wife who was six months pregnant died. This is just one in many stories. The general insecurity in the North of Nigeria has forced several to flee their homes .
